My grandmother Elizabeth Betty Pierce, “Gigi,” embodied elegance, kindness, and grit.

She grew up during the highs of the 1920s and the lows of the 1930s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A true "lady's lady," she empowered her grandchildren to embrace the qualities of being ladies and gentlemen. Particularly in her later years, she devoted herself to nurturing the growth of her grandchildren, instilling in us the values and principles she held dear. To me, my grandmother was not just a relative – she was my best friend. Through thick and thin, Gigi would listen, support, love, and stand by me.

Gigi was an avid gardener, who particularly enjoyed growing herbs. Her yard was often filled with the colorful purple blooms and enchanting scent of lavender. She also had a talent for baking that left a lasting impression—her lemon tart was so delightful that my college roommates declared it the best dessert they had ever tasted!

Her brilliance lay in her unwavering message about what mattered most in life. Through her consistent teachings, she instilled her values in us, embedding them deeply within our hearts for generations to come. For all these reasons – and her love of ending the day with a glass of crisp white wine, bubbles, or a gin cocktail – Browne Family has dedicated several of our offerings to Gigi. Her memory lives on in every sip.
